What are you passionate about?

I m definitely passionate about helping people. I’m a volunteer EMT in the town I’ve lived in my whole life, as well as for a local hospital. It is so important to me to be the best I can be, and to do everything I can to help those I encounter while I’m on the job. Because what could be an average everyday call for me, could be one of the worst for my patients. I’ll always do everything I can to make them feel safe. Whether it’s play their favorite song on the way to the hospital, ask them about their family, or simply hold their hand.

What makes you the happiest?

My family 100%. My girlfriend. My friends. Helping people. And of course my cat, Frosty.

In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?

The belief that I am exactly who I was meant to be. Over the last five years I’ve come to accept myself as female-to-male transgender. In December 2018, I started testosterone injections for hormone replacement therapy. I have never been happier or felt more like the person I am supposed to be. I am more confident as a person, and that has spilled over into every aspect of my life. I am genuinely happy, and it started with something as simple as loving myself. Crazy isn’t it?

If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, whose would they be? Why?

This is one that I have really had to think about. And I still can’t come up with one! I like my shoes. It’s taken me a while to grow into them but I’m finally becoming genuinely happy with who I am. Having the access and ability to aid in my transition has definitely helped, but I really do think that the only shoes I want to be in right now are my own.

What book (or books) have greatly influenced your life?

“The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” by Ben Sherwood will always be the top of my list. I have read it cover to cover countless times since I was younger. The way I think about it, is that we all have a purpose. We are all put on this Earth to do something extraordinary. To educate others, to start a movement, to help those in need, to save a life. We are all incredible, and humans amaze me every single day.

What’s your favorite quote?

“Live strong. Fear nothing.” My family adopted this as a sort of mantra from the awareness bracelets we all wore when my dad was undergoing treatment for cancer.

What is your most-used emoji?

The laughing crying face is always my #1 emoji 😂
