I came out as bisexual in high school. People had assumed I was a lesbian originally but I gently corrected them. When I was a senior, a freshman who shared a wellness walking class with me was acting a little odd. I asked her if she was ok and she told me she felt safe telling me because I was bisexual.
Then she told me that a boy had cornered her in a staircase, sexually assaulting her because he wanted to make sure she didn’t become gay like her mothers. I held her hand and walked with her to the office. I Sat with her until the police came and did the report. Later I went to support her at the trial. I was so glad I had come out so that she felt she had someone she could come to.
