Corrections

Corrections

I go by Sergeant Walker these days, but I started my career in Law Enforcement. More specifically, Corrections, as one of only a handful of other females in the facility. Corrections is a lesser known side of Law Enforcement, but I quickly realized just how important this side of it was. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but from the moment I started, I never looked back. Working in a Jail, trying to stay indifferent and protect those that have committed the worst of the worst of crimes, while attempting to gain respect as a female in a predominately male field…. it was not easy. I stuck with it though, and earned my stripes. Finding the Only Human campaign and apparel, made me proud to be who I am today. I found myself wearing my “ I Got Your Six” T-shirt with pride everywhere I went. I protect and serve my community within the barriers of cement walls, but I will always have the “6” of my fellow Corrections Deputies and the civilians of my community.
