My Journey Through Life
What do the words "only human" mean to you?
Only Human means to be a being that connects with the earth and others. That connection means having passion for every creature, being, life, and element in our universe. It also means we are prone to making mistakes. Those mistakes are used to teach us how to grow. Those mistakes are also ways to learn and educate others. Likewise, only human means to give to the world for the world has given to us. It is up to us to know that we have the power to achieve change. Lastly, only human means that we as humans can change the world because, we have the means to do so.
What are you passionate about?
My passions are: Using art to convey emotions that I have kept locked away for years, being a voice for others since no one deserves to be muted, giving my 110% best to every task at hand, and most importantly, always inventing the best version of myself and those around me. By investing in others you are enabling their potential to be fully acknowledged. There is no limit to humankind, and when it is positively used, the impact will be immeasurable.
What makes you the happiest?
My families, my friends, my relationships with people, baking, cooking, volunteering, giving my time to help better others, donating clothes to the less fortunate, teaching people tools they will need, and giving my time to others who need someone.
In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
Being raised by an abusive father, I felt like I owed him everything for that is what he raised me into believe. However, one night I discovered a song by the artist Seinabo Sey. The song is called, “I Owe You Nothing” and it really helped me. It helped me realize, that I truly don’t owe him anything. Ever since I learned that, it has helped me say “No” to people who try to take advantage of me. It is truly empowering and has helped me in so many ways. The best way it has helped me is by create relationships with better people in my life and for that I am eternally thankful.
How do you keep yourself positively inspired during overwhelming times?
I remind myself, how the opportunities the times of hardships will unlock are far more beautiful than the dark skies currently forecasted.
If you could spend a day in someone else’s shoes, whose would they be? Why?
My friend Julie, for sure has showed me how that through tragedy and grief an extraordinary source of beauty can arise.
