Your list of fears is imaginary. It’s an endless scroll of things that only have the power to hurt you if you let them. Every time your heart races with the fear of something new; use each beat, palpitation, and every pulse, as an opportunity to remind yourself that you’re still alive. It’s time you start acting like it.
Fear only has the power that you give it. When you allow fear the space to thrive and grow inside of you, all you can ever attain are “almosts”.
Almost did quit the job I hate
Almost went to Thailand.
Almost kissed the girl.
When you live your life in fear of what comes next, you’re setting an expectation for a future you can’t see (unless of course you’re a psychic, and in that instance will you please email me, I have so many questions for you).
But if you’re like all of us other humans, you have no idea what your future, or our future as a community, can hold until you’re living it. So each time you make a list of all the things that could go wrong you’re doing two things.
1) You’re living in a future that does not exist.
2) You’re allowing space for fear to grow.
No matter how short or long that list is, you brought it into existence. You made it real. You gave it power. And guess what—that list you made—99% of the time, nothing you could ever guess will actually happen. Why? Because that’s not how life works.
So next time you feel fear, you have a choice.
Next time fear creeps slowly up your arms I want you to close your eyes, clench your fists, and tell fear it has no home in you.
To the moon and back,
