I’ve vowed a lot of things in my life.
I’ve vowed to let my brain do some of the talking instead of just my heart, to never let fear stop me from achieving my dreams, and to find the light even in the darkest of places.
I’ve vowed to slow down and see the beauty that surrounds me, to love myself, to be kind, generous, and—when needed—a little scrappy even.
I’ve vowed to see the good in people, even when they can’t see it in themselves, to seek the truth, speak the truth, and stand in my truth always.
I’ve vowed to stop letting others dictate my life, to own my weirdness in all it’s forms, and to seek out the misfits and tell them that they belong.
I’ve vowed to stand up to the bully, to remain authentic and vulnerable with my scars, and to always remember to put the cap back on the toothpaste.
I’ve vowed to embrace the laugh lines, tell stories about how I got the aches, and to keep my humor through the pain.
I may not be perfect, but I vow to always remain curious and creative so that others are inspired to ignite change within their communities. This is our future, and it’s lit.
