“Come As You Are” has a whole lot of meaning for me 💯
Because “as I am” contains too many trivial parts that society has deemed as “different” and therefore, sometimes not very accepted.
I am a woman 💁🏼‍♀️
I am Hispanic 🇨🇷
I am queer 🏳️‍🌈

& as of two years ago, I am disabled ♿️

Being a minority is something that has always been very front and center in my life – being the outsider, the oddball and the one who sticks out has been a constant ever since I can remember.

For a long time, I tried to blend in, to be like everyone else. Needless to say, I failed time and time again.

It wasn’t until my accident, when I became so drastically “different” on the outside that I finally realized that what makes us truly special is our individuality and unique characteristics.

Ever since then, I’ve been able to embrace, thrive & live my life AS I AM – the quote “Come as You Are” is a perfect reminder of this & what I strive to do each and every day 👊✨♥️
