We teach young women shame. We teach them to cover their skin and cross their legs. To iron out the wrinkles and put makeup over the scars. It takes years as a woman to unlearn what our culture has taught us to be sorry about. So if I can’t trust our society to teach their sons how to treat our daughters, then I will teach our youth less about glass slippers and more about how to shatter glass ceilings. I will not remain complicit in the face of misogyny. I was not born to be subtle. I was raised by a woman who taught me how to be a sword and a shield and I will be on the front line, ready to fight for our future.
