Be Kind: To Yourself, Family/Chosen Family, Community, and the World

Be Kind: To Yourself, Family/Chosen Family, Community, and the World

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” - Caroline Flack

How do we create a lasting culture of kindness? We spread the call of being a kinder human. We pass it on to others and instill it in the next generation. Kindness doesn’t have to be something that’s extraordinary, it comes in all shapes and sizes.

Let’s face it. We could all use a little more kindness in our lives. Let’s talk about some of the different ways we can be kind.

1. Be Kind To You

Sometimes it’s not easy to be kind to ourselves. In fact, a lot of us are our biggest enemies. How often do you say mean things to yourself in your head? Something like I am so stupid, I am fat and really need to lose 20 lbs, no one will ever love me. Sometimes it’s really difficult to be kind to ourselves. We need to go through a mindshift and turn our own thoughts around.

Try this: I honor my body for getting me through every day. I messed up and I learned from it. I love myself and I will find someone that loves me for me.

3 Things to be kinder to yourself: Forgive yourself, Encourage yourself, Be yourself.

It’s not easy to be kind to ourselves, but it’s so worth it to try!

2. Be Kind To Your Family/Chosen Family

What are some of the little things you can do in your family unit to be kinder? Smile more when you’re at home. Encourage someone that lives in your household. Celebrate successes together. Communicate with one another and lend your support.

3. Be Kind In Your Community

Here’s where you get to intentionally spread kindness in your community: your neighbors, sports teams, classmates, teachers, friends, and anyone you come into contact with! Hold the door open for someone. Smile at a stranger. Get out and do something random or planned, just do it with a kind heart!

4. Be Kind In The World

Think big! You can make a difference in the world by showing a little bit of kindness. Remember the ripple effect? You’d be surprised at the impact you could have.

Be Kind. You won’t regret it.
