Meet Imani

Meet Imani

Meet Imani. She’s 12 and has been out at the #blacklivesmatter protests because she has felt racism first hand. At twelve years old she has to worry more about how she can make her way through a broken system than she does about being a kid. She’s had to grow up too quick at the hands of bias and preference from people who have the final say on her case file, living arrangements, and when she’s allowed to visit with family. Imani should be out being a kid.

Her skin color is not a weapon.

It is more important than ever that we not only educate ourselves as white people on how racism has been intertwined so deeply into our every day life, but we need to get out and VOTE. Look up your local districts, look up the laws being passed EVERY DAY that keep BIPOC from the privileges that we inherited through our skin color. #blacklivesmatter
