This Is Accountability...Not Justice

This Is Accountability...Not Justice

THIS IS DAY 1.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO FIGHTING FOR EQUITY AND INCLUSION OF ALL HUMANS.

We cried. We marched. We fought. We read. We conversed. We watched.

As an entire nation, and honestly, the world, we watched as a black man was unable to breathe and ultimately died at the hands of a police officer on May 25, 2020. This sparked one of the largest civil rights movements in our nation and across the world, bringing to the forefront the injustices faced by racial minorities.

Only Human will always stand and fight for human rights.

As we awaited the verdict for a police officer who violated a clearly established standard and his duty to protect the community he served, across the nation you could hear a deep breath and a pause taken while we listened to each charge having a guilty verdict.

We stand at this point in time where change is the only option. Where people of all kinds are valued and listened to as we walk through these changes together.

For now, we may have temporary relief, but the work is far from over. What happened to George Floyd was wrong and how many times and in how many cases has this happened before and we haven’t seen it?

Where there are people, there is power.

Derek Chauvin was first, but the entire system needs to be put on trial next. This is just the beginning of the work that needs to be done.
