Dear Friend,

Dear Friend,

Dear friend,

I know you’re hurting right now. But I need you to know that you matter to someone, you matter to me. I know that all of the darkness in the world feels crippling. I know because I’ve been there. I know that in the darkest moments it’s hard to see the light, it’s hard to grasp the concept that you are the light. You’re the light to someone in this universe, and the will to live is inside you. That voice that lives within you that makes you feel like you’re nothing and that leaving won’t cause hurt for anyone, that voice is bullshit. It’s part of the depression. It’s lying to you. If you leave the pain that will ripple through the lives around you will live in them forever. We need you to throw more punches at your illness, we need you to fight. We need you. If you leave now you’re heaving your pain onto the rest of us, and it’s hard enough in our dark days to handle our own pain, I need you around to help me, help us, survive these days. I hate in my worst moments when someone tells me that it will pass, but you know what? It’s true. It’s always true because no matter how bad the pain is, eventually it will pass. Eventually it will become dull, and though the thoughts may creep back up, you will be able to tell yourself that the devil on your shoulder is a liar who doesn’t have your best interests in mind. Friend, you’ve been through so much, but you are strong enough to fight these moments.

Don’t make a permanent decision based on temporary lies. Please stay. We need you.
